You don’t have to worry about stat blocks and level systems to have some great times. Adventure games have always been very popular with gamers.
Since the late 1990s, it has become less popular, but there are still a lot of people who like it. All three game consoles have great adventure games, and the Xbox is no exception. Because of backward compatibility, there are some more interesting games to choose from.
Adventure games made by Double Fine Productions and its founder, Tim Schafer, have been great for a long time. Since Double Fine is part of Xbox Game Studios, many of its games and Tim’s past work are available on Xbox. For games to be considered action-adventure games, the adventure part must be a big part of the game.
The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition

Lucasfilm Games’s first Monkey Island game is a landmark and classic adventure game. In the 1990s, it was only for PC, but in 2009, a special edition came out. It was possible to change the graphics completely, and voice acting was added. Many of the actors who played the same characters in the sequels are back to play them again. You can quickly switch between the old and new graphics, which is a nice feature.
The game has some of the best puzzles and running gags in the medium. After that, a lot of PC adventure games tried to copy the running joke of people saying the main character’s name wrong, but they didn’t do very well at it. All of this, plus the great writing, makes Monkey Island 1 an essential adventure game.
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge

The same thing happened to the second Monkey Island game a year after the first one. The first game is a classic, but the second game is better in many ways. It is longer, bigger, and has more islands to explore. The puzzles are much more interesting and fun to figure out.
You can switch between the old and new graphics at any time, just like with the first remaster, but this one only has developer commentary. Fans of the series will find it very interesting, especially about the most recent game, Slope Game. Monkey Island 2 is a must-have adventure game because it has the same great writing as the first game.
Stacking

Stacking is a legitimate hidden gem. Most “hidden gems” are still talked about now and then, but Stacking is rarely, if ever, brought up. This is too bad, because it’s a great and original adventure game. The title is about Russian stacking dolls, which is a great idea for this type of book.
You can go inside dolls that are bigger and bigger as you stack them, and some dolls have their own skills. It’s fun from start to finish, and it’s a great choice if you want to play an adventure game that’s unlike any other or just want to try something new.
Grim Fandango

Grim Fandango by Tim Schafer is a great journey into the afterlife and one of the best adventure games ever made by Lucasfilm Games. The story of the game is based on the legends of the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday. If you’ve seen the movie Coco, it’s a lot like this game. It’s longer than most adventure games at the time, and each part stands out and is easy to remember.
Like other Lucasfilm Games, there aren’t any puzzles that are too strange or impossible to solve. The writing is great, but how much you care about the story will depend on how much you care about the holiday itself. Grim Fandango is a must-play adventure game, but you may not play it a lot.
Day of the Tentacle

Day of the Tentacle is another adventure game from Lucasfilm Games that has to be up there with the best of them. It’s probably one of the best sequels to an adventure game, and it improves on the first game by letting you play as more than one character. In Maniac Mansion, it was easy to get to a point where you couldn’t win. In Day of the Tentacle, that is no longer a problem, and the time travel system makes playing with multiple characters much more fun.
Most of the time, each character is in their own place and time, which makes for some great puzzles. Many of the tasks can be done in any order, which makes the game more fun to play over and over again. Day of the Tentacle is a must-play because it has a fun time travel system, a nonlinear story, and funny writing, all of which are things that Lucasfilm Games is known for.
Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

After the weird Prince of Persia reboot in 2008, The Forgotten Sands brought the series back to the Sands of Time storyline. In a game like Uncharted, the platforming is more of a break from the third-person shooting than a real challenge. In Prince of Persia, however, the platforming does test you, and it’s a big part of the game.
On your first try, the last platforming challenge can take a long time. Exploration is also important if you want to find every sarcophagus and destroy it. The game isn’t very long and can probably be finished in a day, but it’s fun while it lasts. This is the best Prince of Persia game on Xbox 360 that can be played on older systems, and it can be sold for very little money.
Tomb Raider: Underworld

Tomb Raider: Underworld was the last main Tomb Raider game before the series got a new start with a reboot. This game has held up the best out of the three Xbox 360 games that can be played on Xbox One. It can be hard to get back into Legend and Anniversary, but not so much Underworld. Combat is a part of this game, but most of it is about going from platform to platform and finding new places.
In Uncharted, it’s pretty easy to find a place to climb. But in Underworld, you have to dig deep to figure out where to go. This title can make you feel like a fool, but sticking with it can be very rewarding. The last third of the game is a little slow, and the ending could have been better, but most of Underworld is a fun adventure.
Somerville

Somerville is an adventure game made by the same people who made Limbo and Inside. It is only available on the Xbox console. It’s shorter than both of those, but it’s still really good. This game’s puzzles felt the best, which is probably because it was much harder to die. The character is the same if you get stuck. This helps you focus more on the task at hand. If you kept dying, you would lose that focus.
Some of the ending parts are a little off, and the rumble feature doesn’t work on consoles. Near the end of the game, the rumble can break and keep going until you turn off the vibration. Still, this is a must-play adventure game that is only available for Xbox.
